John's main guitar is an Epiphone Gibson Les Paul Standard in a honeyburst finish. The guitar was bought in 2004 to replace his white Fender Squier Stratocaster, and has proved to be a real asset to the band, providing a thicker and heavier sound to power chords. It features a mahogany/alder body with a beautiful maple top (check out some of the gorgeous shots of the guitar in the Photos section!), mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, plus chromed hardware.
