This page lists comments about all of the gigs that we played during 2010 - as you will appreciate, the comments may seem strange when viewed with hindsight. Many thanks to everyone who supported us during our most busy and successful year ever! 2010 broke all of our previous records, and we played more gigs than in any previous year. It also saw us being essentially fully-booked for 2011 even before 2011 had begun, which is another record! We have even received bookings for 2012, and that really is amazing, even by our standards. Now the challenge is to maintain this momentum in successive years. As we said at this time last year, we'd have to see if 2010 lived up to its promise, and we can now say that it has exceeded all of our expectations - so here's to 2011! Who knows what this year holds in store for us, but it's going to be exciting! As usual, there are links to the appropriate photos page. We played our final gig of 2010 - our most busy and successful year ever - at Lanesfield Royal British Legion Club, where we provided Mick and the punters with a New Year's Eve celebration to remember! The club was packed to capacity for the sold-out gig, and everyone had a wonderful time. The dance floor was kept busy right from the beginning of the night and stayed that way throughout the evening. We all saw in the New Year in traditional fashion, and then we rounded off the night - until the power circuit breakers kicked in, just as Kay was singing the final number! Thank you for your wonderful support, happy New Year to you all, and we'll see you again in June 2011! As usual, Gill snapped away, despite having some surprise guests (hi Helen and Ray!) and her pics are here! We played in the final South Staffordshire Shop Window of 2010, held at Cheslyn Hay Working Men's Club on Sunday 19th December. People struggled in through the snow, so there was a good turn out to enjoy the acts who were strutting their stuff! We were on after the interval and were given the whole second half to perform, so we were able to complete a pretty full set - and even were asked for an encore! Many thanks for that, and also for the bookings that came in. We're sure that Jack would've been pleased with the show. Gill even took pics! We played our final "normal" gig of the year at Dudley ExServicemen's Club on Saturday 18th December, where we have been receiving a very warm welcome for many years now. It was -10 degrees outside the club, and the snow was deep... We managed to turn up as did a number of trusty punters from the club, so we played a special "requests" gig, and everyone seemed to have an excellent time. Many thanks to those who turned out to support us, and a very big thanks to all the strong guys who helped get Bimal's car out of the snow, and moving again - especially Jock! We'll see you all again next year with better weather and a host of brand new songs, which we're sure you'll enjoy! Gill was able to get some more excellent photos, which you can check out here! We returned to Cradley Heath Liberal Club for our third visit of the year on Sunday 5th December, where we received a very warm welcome from Paul and the punters, despite the weather being extremely cold outside. We were delighted with the enthusiastic response to our performances, even though Kay was suffering with quite severe problems with her voice. The warmth from the audience easily made us feel better, so thanks for that, and we'll look forward to seeing you all again next year, when it will be warmer outside! Gill took some great pics! We returned to Rowley & Blackheath Labour Club on Saturday 27th November for a packed evening, that saw all of the club awards being presented in a mammoth presentation spot between our sets! Congratulations to all of the winners, and especially the amazing Tolley family! Our sets went down really well, as usual, and the dance floor saw plenty of action, whilst a lot of the punters were just happy to groove in their seats - yeah, we saw you! Thanks to everyone for a brilliant evening and we'll see you all again in June 2011 - enjoy Gill's photos! We played our debut gig at the Forty Four Club on Saturday 20th November and received a wonderful warm welcome from everyone! They clearly enjoyed the range of material, and applauded generously! Thanks to you all for an excellent evening and also for the very kind compliments that were paid to us: we'll look forward to seeing you all again next year with more new and totally unexpected classic songs! Gill's photos have appeared as if by magic! We played a return visit to the H.D.A. Sports & Social Club on Friday 19th November to help them celebrate their winners in the highly competitive skittles matches. Congratulations to all of the excellent winners! We were delighted with the very warm and enthusiastic welcome we received from everyone, especially Mandy (hi there!). The dance floor was packed all evening, and happily there was something for everyone! We'll hope to see you all again in the not-too-distant future! Enjoy Gill's photos which can be seen here! We returned to Harrisons Sports & Social Club for our second visit on Saturday 13th November, having been there previously during the 2010 World Cup. We received a fantastic welcome, as we've come to expect from this friendly club - the choice of material went down really well, and the dance floor saw plenty of action from all ages! Thanks for the great reception and we'll look forward to seeing you all again next year! As usual, Gill was there to capture the event for posterity - check out the results here! We returned to Netherton Liberal Club for our second visit of the year on Saturday 6th November, and received the very warm welcome that we have come to expect from this friendly club. Although most of the dancers were away on a day trip, the punters who came along clearly enjoyed the show, and could be seen clapping along and generally enjoying themselves! We'll look forward to seeing you all again next year! In the meantime, check out Gill's photos of the gig! We played a special gig at Kinver Constitutional Club on Friday 5th November - it was their special annual Bonfire Party, and we were delighted to be able to play to all of the punters who had turned out to see the awesome firework display, despite the steady rain, that continued until everything had ended: typical! Never the less, everyone seemed to have had a very enjoyable evening, with people dancing around with the umbrellas and enjoying the music! Gill managed to get a few snaps despite the rain and cold! We played our second gig of the year at Leek Working Men's Conservative Club on Saturday 30th October, with a Halloween influence and even some unplanned gremlins, but everyone had a great time. The material went down really well, as usual, and the dance floor was kept busy all night long! Many thanks to all of the enthusiastic dancers, and we'll look forward to seeing you again next year! Gill video-recorded the gig so we might get some new YouTube videos from the footage, but until then, here are some stills to enjoy! We returned to Gornal & Sedgley Labour Club on Saturday 23rd October for our second gig of the year, and the first one since we were presented with our Best Trio Award from Midlands Counties. We received a great welcome from everyone, and the dance floor was kept busy most of the evening. The new songs were well appreciated, and we'll look forward to seeing you all again next year, with more surprises! Until then, enjoy the photos that Gill took, which captured the spirit of the evening really well! We were honoured to attend the Midlands Counties Clubs Awards Show on Thursday 21st October at Quarry Bank Labour Club, where we were presented with the award for Best Trio 2010! Along with the other winners who received their awards, we performed for the capacity crowd, and were thrilled by the extremely enthusiastic response to our 25-minute set - we even got to play an encore! Many thanks to everyone who voted for us, and for the continued support we have received over the years. We will not rest on our laurels however - we will continue to raise our standards and add exciting and challenging new songs so that our audiences always have something new and fresh to enjoy! The event was covered by the Express & Star newspaper, which can be viewed here, as well as Gill taking a selection of photos! Enjoy! We made our 2010 visit to the Hill & Cakemore ExServicemen's Club on Saturday 16th October and were greeted with a very enthusiastic crowd, who really seemed to enjoy the range of music we played. The new tracks went down really well, and the dance floor was kept busy throughout the second half! Thanks to you all for the continuing support, and we'll look forward to seeing you all again in 2011! Enjoy Gill's photos, which have captured the feel of the gig really well! We returned to Ashwood Social Club on Saturday 9th October, and were greeted with an even more enthusiastic welcome than we received when we played our debut gig for them! We included several different songs to vary the sets, and these seemed to go down really well. The dance floor was crowded for the whole evening, and for most of the time, it appeared that almost everyone was dancing! Thank you all for your fantastic welcome and support, and for the wonderfully kind and generous compliments paid during and after the show! We'll be seeing you again next year, complete with as many of your requests as we can rehearse in time! Gill's photos can be seen as well! On Sunday 3rd October, we performed at Drayton Manor Family Theme Park as part of the JDRF's annual Walk To Cure Diabetes, which we were very honoured to be asked to take part in. As fate would have it, the heavens spent most of the time raining down on the whole of the country, so the dedicated walkers got quite wet. We too experienced the wet, with the rain coming down on all kinds of equipment - but, the show went on, and everyone involved seemed to have a really good time! We certainly enjoyed performing in these unusual circumstances. Gill didn't take any photos as she was standing on stage out of the rain, and had left her camera in the car! However, we suspect that there might be a picture or two on the JDRF website once it has been updated. If that's the case, we'll provide a link for you! Many thanks to Lydia and Hannah, and we really hope that lots of funds have been raised! We made a return visit to Springfield Social Club on Saturday 2nd October, where we were greeted by the usual enthusiastic crowds, who clearly enjoyed the range of songs we performed - especially the new additions to our sets. The dance floor saw plenty of action, and we played the obligatory encores as well. Thanks for the excellent welcome, and we'll look forward to seeing you all again next year! Until then, Gill managed to get some photos as usual. We returned to one of our regular venues on Saturday 25th September, when we played at Dudley ExServicemen's Club. As always, Jock and the punters gave us a warm welcome, and our third set, filled with rock classics, received a very enthusiastic reception! Thanks for that, and many thanks for the continued support over the years! We'll see you again next year with more of your favourite rock tracks! Check out Gill's photos, which can be seen here! We made a return visit to Cradley Labour Club on Saturday 18th September, where we were greeted by a very appreciative audience - everyone seemed to enjoy the music, and there were plenty of demands for encores at the end. Thank you all for a very enjoyable evening, and we'll look forward to seeing you again next year! Gill was recording video footage, so keep an eye out for something new... ;-) We returned to Pattingham Working Men's Club on Friday 17th September, where we were honoured to take part in a special annual charity even, raising money for three deserving charities. The evening included a special charity auction, which raised a lot of money, and the band was extremely well-received! The dance floor was packed for most of the evening, and everyone had a great time, as well as raising loads of money for the charities. Thanks to you all for taking part! Here are Gill's epic photos! We returned to Weston Coyney Private Social Club, in association with Diamond Entertainments, on Saturday 11th September, and were greeted with a packed and very enthusiastic club! The dance floor became busy during the second set, and stayed that way for the rest of the night. The new songs went down really well, as did the new lighting - and John's witty banter was on top form! Thank you all for a brilliant evening, and we'll look forward to seeing you again next year! Here are Gill's photos, including an odd one! ;-) We were honoured to be asked to play at Sandra's extra special birthday party on Saturday 4th September, which we happily did. The whole event went really well, and John provided additional music when the band wasn't performing - he was able to work magic with the decks! Thanks to everyone who helped to give Sandra a birthday to remember, and here are Gill's photos to help jog the memory! We made our first visit of the year to Kinver Constitutional Club on Saturday 28th August, and were greeted with a wonderfully enthusiastic crowd. The material was very well received, and we were given a lot of very complimentary feedback - always gratefully accepted! We had to play the obligatory half dozen encores (thank you!) and the dancers kept everything moving! We'll see you all again for the Bonfire Night party! Until then, here are some photos courtesy of Gill, as always! We played our second gig of the year at Pensnett Social Welfare Centre on Sunday 22nd August and received another fantastic reception! We had to play five encores (thanks!) including a requested song, and the dance floor was kept very busy in the second half! We were delighted with the very enthusiastic comments we received from several people - you're very kind and generous! We'll be seeing you again next January, and we'll have some more new material to delight and surprise you all! Gill's photos have appeared now! We returned to one of our old established venues, Stechford Social Club, on Saturday 21st August, and were greeted with the familiar enthusiastic responses! The dance floor was kept busy, especially in the second set, and everyone demanded a lot of encores which we happily delivered! We'll look forward to seeing you all again next year, and Gill's photos are here - plus we had a special guest photographer come along, and his photos will probably be appearing a little later on! Hi Richard! We returned to Redstone Social Club in Stourport-On-Severn on 14th August, having played there in May, and were delighted with the rapturous reception we received from the crowds! We even had to play another song after we had played several encores and finished! The dance floor was kept busy for virtually the whole evening after the first set and everyone clearly had an excellent time! We'll see you all again in May 2011 - hi to Sophie and Paul who kindly sorted out the gate at the end of the evening, as well as supporting us! Gill's photos are here! We played our debut gig at Pattingham Working Men's Club on Saturday 7th August and were bowled over with the very enthusiastic reception that we received! Everyone seemed to totally love the show we delivered, and were very impressed with the wide range of material we played. The dance floor was kept busy all evening, and we even won a prize of two in the raffle (sorry!)! We'll look forward to seeing you all again, probably next year, and thanks again for a marvellous welcome! Here are Gill's photos to help remind you! We returned to Coseley Working Men's Club in association with High Rise Entertainments on Saturday 31st July, and received yet another fantastic and enthusiastic reception, as we did last year. Many thanks for all of the very kind and generous compliments that were paid, and we're pleased that everyone enjoyed the show! We'll see you all again next January and we'll have even more surprises for you! In the meantime, Gill managed to take a few photos for posterity! We returned to the Lanesfield Royal British Legion Club on Saturday 24th July for the first time in 2010, after our successful debut last year. We were once again greeted with enthusiastic applause and cheering, as well as the dance floor seeing plenty of action - we were especially pleased with the response to the Kings Of Leon number - especially as it's only the second time we've ever played it! Thanks to all of you for a fantastic welcome, and we're glad you all had such a great evening! We'll see you at the end of the year, and Gill's photos are here! We returned to Cradley Heath Liberal Club for the second time this year on Saturday 17th July, and received a very warm welcome as before. The dance floor was kept busy all night, and everyone seemed to enjoy the full range of material we played. At the end of the night, everyone was asking for more, and when we'd be returning, which was great. Thanks for the excellent welcome, and you will be seeing us again! Gill took several photos for posterity - you can see them here! We made a return to Catshill Social Club for the first time this year on Saturday 3rd July, where we received a fantastic welcome as usual. In fact, the dance floor was kept busy for virtually the whole evening, and at the end, after we'd finished, there were so many yelling for more that we went back and played one more final song! Thanks so much, and we'll look forward to seeing you all again in 2011! Gill's photos are here! We had the honour of performing at Bob's extra special birthday party on Friday 2nd July at The Leisure Complex in Hucknall, Nottingham, along with other quality entertainment. Everyone seemed to enjoy our sets, especially the second set, when the dance floor was kept busy the whole time. Our very best wishes on your special occasion, Bob! Gill captured a couple of images for posterity! We played our first 2010 gig for Harrisons Sports & Social Club on Saturday 12th June - the day England played their first World Cup match, which was watched by the punters before we did our spots. Everyone really enjoyed the music, and it certainly seemed to raise everyone's spirits after the football. Thanks for the fantastic welcome and responses to what we did, and we'll be back with more quality music for you in November. Until then, Gill's excellent photos will remind you of the highlights of the evening! We were honoured to perform for Mandy, celebrating a special birthday at the South Redditch Sports & Social Club, on Friday 11th June. John also provided additional music before, during, and after our band slots, which he did with his usual skill. Apologies to anyone who wasn't able to have their choice of song played - after all, we did only have one CD! Everyone had a great evening - most of all Mandy! Congratulations, and here are some band photos to remind you of the evening! We returned to Cradley Heath Labour Club on Saturday 5th June, with the heat building up once again. Although the number of punters was a little on the low side, those who were there had a great time, and some dedicated dancers kept the dance floor busy for the whole evening! Thanks to you all for a thoroughly enjoyable gig, and Gill's photos can be viewed here! We played our first gig at Parkes Hall Social Club on Sunday 30th May, and owing to a number of technical problems, our performance was a little below par. We played our debut gig for Trevor and the punters at Quarry Bank Labour Club on Saturday 29th May, and were bowled over by the fantastic reception we received! Everyone seemed really pleased with our wide-ranging selection of songs, and "Smoke On The Water" received a huge amount of applause (many thanks!)! The dance floor was kept busy all night, and we'll look forward to seeing you all again next year, and we'll try and sort out some of the requests we received! Enjoy Gill's photos! We played our second gig of the year for Jock and the punters at Dudley ExServicemen's Club, and the weather had changed completely from the cold in January: it was sweltering, but the club's air conditioning helped to keep everyone happy - together with the band bringing the songs that had been requested, together with some rearranged sets. The evening went brilliantly well, and everyone had a great time! Thanks for the (literally!) very warm welcome, as always, and we'll be back to see you again in September: we'll see what the weather does this time! For now, see how hot the band looked in Gill's photos! ;-) We made our return to the Redstone Social Club in Stourport-On-Severn on 15th May, having played there last year on the May Bank Holiday. We returned to Rowley & Blackheath Labour Club on Saturday 1st May for the first of our public performances there since we played at a private birthday party earlier in the year. As usual, Dean and Keith, along with all of the punters, made us feel very welcome, and we got a great reception to the songs we played - especially some of the new songs! The dance floor was packed for most of the second half, and the cries for more at the end were much appreciated! Thank you all - and we'll see you again at the end of November! Here are Gill's pics! We returned to Pelsall Social Club for the first time since 2008 on Saturday 24th April, where we received an equally enthusiastic and warm welcome, as we have before! We returned to Rugeley Progressive Working Mens Club, in association with Diamond Entertainments, on Saturday 17th April - we were last there in September 2009. We revamped our sets, which had been very well received last year (as evidenced by some of our video clips), but decided to try and up our game even further. It would seem that we succeeded! We received a brilliant reception, and the dance floor was busy the whole evening. Sharing the stage with us was an excellent duo, Mach 2, and at the end of the evening, we received a fantastic compliment from Jim, the Entertainments Secretary, when he announced "Beyond Words and Mach 2 - it doesn't get any better than that!" You can check out the photos taken by Gill here! We played our first 2010 booking for Gornal & Sedgley Labour Club on Saturday 20th March, just a couple of days after Kay had had keyhole surgery to correct a problem with her knee, which had been giving her problems for quite a while. As a result she needed to perform most of the gig sitting down. However, the audience still had a fantastic time, and gave us all a brilliant reception! The dance floor was kept busy the whole evening, and we all had a great evening: thanks to you all! We'll see you all again in October! Here are Gill's photos! We returned to Netherton Liberal Club for our first booking of 2010 on Saturday 13th March, and received a fantastic welcome once again, with loads of dancing and plenty of enthusiastic participation from the punters! We played our debut gig at Chelmsley & District Conservative Club in association with R B Entertainment on Sunday 7th March, and we received an excellent reception. We played yet another debut gig on Sunday 14th February - yes, Valentine's Day! - at Pensnett Social Welfare Centre, where we received yet another fantastic reception, and loads of extremely kind and complimentary words after the gig! The dance floor was continuously busy, and everyone seemed to enjoy the choice of material that we performed. We enjoyed ourselves as well, of course, and we look forward to seeing you all again in August! Gill's photos from this gig are here! We made our first return visit of 2010 to Weston Coyney Private Social Club, in association with Diamond Entertainments, on Saturday 13th February, having played there for the first time in August 2009. The club was packed, and everyone had a wonderful time, as did we. Once the dance floor started, it remained packed, and after 5 encores, people were still calling out for more! Thanks for a brilliant reception again, and we'll look forward to seeing you all again in September! Gill's photos are now here! Our next new club was Springfield Social Club on Saturday 6th February, and this has to be one of the best equipped clubs we've played in: they have an impressive array of lights and lasers, plus a resident DJ playing music in between the live sets! We received another fantastic welcome from the punters, who really seemed to enjoy the range of songs we performed! We'll be seeing you all again at the start of October! Until then, don't forget to take a look at the photos that Gill took - they're right here! We played our debut gig at Rushall Labour Club on Saturday 30th January, and we were bowled over by the response from the punters! The dance floor was busy virtually from the start of the gig and stayed that way for the rest of the evening. We were delighted with the very kind and generous compliments paid to us during the evening (which modesty prevents us from repeating here!), as well as enjoying the whole atmosphere of the club. We will be seeing you all again in 2011, but so you don't forget us, check out Gill's photos! We have a run of new clubs coming up, and the first one of the year was Cradley Heath Liberal Club, who we entertained on Saturday 23rd January. It's a lovely modern club building, and the punters seemed to enjoy the music we performed for them - indeed, the dance floor was kept busy all night, initially by the children and then everyone else caught on! Thanks for a fantastic welcome, and we'll see you all again in July, when we'll have some of the songs you were asking for! Gill's photos are here. For our second gig of the year, we were honoured to be asked to play at Jenny Salcombe's 50th Birthday Party on Saturday 16th January, hosted at Rowley & Blackheath Labour Club. John also provided additional music outside of the band performances, to ensure that Jenny and all of her friends and relatives had a real evening to remember! Suffice it to say, everyone had a great time, and we wish to add our very best wishes to Jenny for this most special of birthdays! ;-) Also check out the photos! Our (potentially!) busiest year ever kicked off on Saturday 9th January with a gig at one of our long-time supporting clubs, Dudley ExServicemen's Club, where Jock and the punters who ventured out on a cold and snowy evening gave us a fantastic and warm reception, as always! The dance floor saw plenty of action, even in the first of our three sets, and everyone enjoyed the diverse range of music! We'll see you all again in May, and we'll hope to have nailed some of the songs that were requested! Enjoy Gill's photos! |
